Overview

Nestled in the heart of Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, Wok Kang (Kampung Baru) offers an authentic Asian dining experience that food enthusiasts will surely appreciate. This eatery specializes in Shanghai-style and signature wok-fried dishes, with fried rice taking center stage as their standout item. The lively atmosphere is complemented by its convenient location, offering diners a glimpse of the iconic Kuala Lumpur cityscape, including the nearby KLCC and Saloma Bridge, making it an ideal spot for both casual meals and enjoyable evenings out.

The highlight here is the mastery of the wok. Whether it’s the Shanghai Beef Steak Fried Rice, seasoned prawns, or the spicy chili fried rice variants, each dish is cooked to perfection with a notable smoky aroma known as "wok hei." This distinctive charred fragrance elevates every bite, giving a genuine depth to simple ingredients—fresh vegetables, tender cuts of meat, and perfectly separated grains of rice.

Patrons consistently praise the generous portions and balanced seasoning that avoid greasiness or overpowering saltiness, making the dishes both satisfying and approachable. The addition of sambal as a condiment adds a fiery contrast, enhancing the flavor profiles and catering to those who enjoy a spicy kick. This thoughtful combination of traditional cooking techniques with a hint of local flair creates a robust menu that appeals to a broad audience—from office workers seeking a quick, flavorful meal to families wanting a comforting, affordable dinner.

Wok Kang’s space reflects a casual yet vibrant vibe, perfect for dine-in visitors who appreciate a lively environment paired with quality food. Its accessibility within Kampung Baru places it conveniently for both locals and tourists eager to explore Malaysia’s rich culinary offerings. The restaurant’s commitment to authentic taste while maintaining affordable pricing truly positions it as a must-visit destination for fried rice and wok-style Asian cuisine enthusiasts.

In summary, Wok Kang (Kampung Baru) stands out with its expertly crafted fried rice dishes, appealing ambiance, and strategic location. It's a solid go-to for those craving genuine Asian flavors infused with the unmistakable wok essence, offering an experience that goes beyond just a meal to a celebration of tradition and taste.

I recently tried the Chinese style fried rice from Wok Kang, and I have to say it was a satisfying experience! The rice was perfectly wok-fried with a good balance of seasoning, not too salty, and had that authentic smoky “wok hei” flavor that’s hard to come by. The portion size was generous, and the ingredients, especially the fresh veggies and tender meat were well-cooked and flavorful. The texture of the rice wasn’t greasy or clumpy, which is a big plus, and they didn’t skimp on the protein either. Whether you’re into chicken, beef, or seafood, there’s a version for everyone. A solid go-to for a quick, tasty, and affordable Chinese meal. Rating: 4.5/5 Highly recommended if you're craving good fried rice with authentic Chinese vibes!

A perfect combo of flavor and view! Nasi Goreng Wok Kang was simple yet satisfying — not too oily, nicely balanced with just the right amount of seasoning. Enjoying it with the stunning KLCC view right in front of me. Great vibes, delicious food, and have variety of choices. Will definitely come again!

5 stars – A must-try in Kampung Baru! I ordered the Shanghai Beef Steak Fried Rice and wow—wok-ed to perfection! Every bite was packed with flavour and came with generous, tender beef pieces. The portion was more than satisfying and definitely value for money. And that side sambal? The perfect spicy kick that tied it all together. Will definitely be coming back for more!

I’ve only had takeout and usually the beef fried rice. Utterly delish with the sambal eventhough a tad bit oily. It’s hard to say no and you’ll go back for more! Better than Uncle Roger and Uncle Soon

If you're craving local & flavourful fried rice, this place is a must-try! The Shanghai fried rice was delicious, and the spicy sambal gave it a nice spicy touch. We bought egg fried rice with beef steak, Shanghai fried rice with prawns and Shanghai fried rice with roasted chicken. My family, kids, and I loved it. Affordable prices and you can grab a coffee from the shop next door (Kopi Saigon) after your meal! Parking can be challenging but at night you can park on the roadside so it’s fine. Just waze Wok Kang Kg Baru. Another bonus point, you can have the meal while watching the beautiful twin tower. It’s near to Saloma Bridge as well.

One of the best chinese-malay style nasi goreng in KL. Price is cheap and affordable. Nasi goreng is hot and you can feel the wok hei taste. Locationwise, this small gerai is located near Saloma Bridge and also Kopi Saigon. Note: only take away service are provided here.
